Events

  • Mind Sports Festival

    Major offline event in 2026, featuring diverse mind sports tournaments as the core attraction, alongside interactive board game demos and product showcases. The event will bring together top local and international players, with the goal of establishing Asia’s premier mind sports carnival.

  • 3rd Asia-Pacific Riichi Championship (APRC)

    An offline event in 2027, featuring a Riichi Mahjong Championship as the main tournament, complemented by secondary competitions with various rule variations.

    The event will invite professional players from NPM (Japan), giving Mahjong enthusiasts an opportunity to challenge and learn from top-tier professionals.


Training Programme

  • Mind Sports Athlete Training Programme

    Major offline event in 2026, featuring diverse mind sports tournaments as the core attraction, alongside interactive board game demos and product showcases. The event will bring together top local and international players, with the goal of establishing Asia’s premier mind sports carnival.

  • Tournament Commentator Training
    In collaboration with local professional sports commentators, HKMSCA designed a specialized training program for mind sports commentary to enhance the quality of tournament coverage.


  • Professional Mahjong Athlete Training

    An offline event in 2027, featuring a Riichi Mahjong Championship as the main tournament, complemented by secondary competitions with various rule variations.

    The event will invite professional players from NPM (Japan), giving Mahjong enthusiasts an opportunity to challenge and learn from top-tier professionals. 

    Professional Mahjong Referee Training
    In collaboration with professional organizations in Japan, HKMSCA designed a referee training program tailor-made for intellectual sports competitions. This program provides training and education for aspiring referees, equipping them with professional knowledge and the ability to make fair, on-the-spot decisions.

About HKMSCA

Hong Kong, China Mind Sports Competition Association Limited (hereinafter referred to as “Hong Kong Mind Sport Competition Association” or“HKMSCA”)

is dedicated to promoting intellectual sports in Hong Kong and serves as the governing body for such activities, coordinating its affiliated chapters.

HKMSCA focused on varies strategic board games such as Monopoly, Catan, Saboteur, Wizards and Riichi Mahjong. Our aims include: to promote the development of mind sport competitions in society, to foster cultural exchange, and to uphold the spirit of competition.

In 2025, the Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Japan’s professional Riichi Mahjong organization, marking the first step in establishing a collaborative relationship between the Association and Japan.

Referee and Coach Training & Certification

Establish Competition Rules and Disciplinary Framework - Organize referee training courses for Monopoly, Catan, Saboteur, and Wizards, ensuring that tournament rules are aligned with international standards. These programs aim to enhance the proficiency of our referees.

International Exchange and Team Management - Assist and manage athletes who participates in international competitions, providing them with competition regulations, travel itineraries, and coaching support.

Form Hong Kong representative team to participate in international competitions - Organize and coordinate Hong Kong players in major international tournaments, such as World Riichi Championship (WRC), Asia-Pacific Riichi Championship (APRC), Catan, Saboteur, and Wizard.

Establish friendly and cooperative relationships with overseas organizations - Korea Mahjong League (KML) and NIHON Pro Mahjong Association (NPM)

Since October 2025, NPM and HKMSCA entered into a friendly partnership, and both parties will work together to promote Riichi Mahjong in Asia in the future.



Korean Mahjong League(KML)


In 2018, HKMSCA established contact with KML. In the same year, the rights to select the Hong Kong team for the International Online Riichi Mahjong Championship (IORMC) wad granted by KML.

Since 2018, the Association held annual selection events for Hong Kong team members.

In 2025, KML represented South Korea and participated in the 2nd APRC.
